Department of Criminalistics

The Department of Criminalistics has passed several milestones during its development:

  • in 1960 the Department of Criminalistics distinguished itself from the subdepartment of discipline-specific legal sciences;
  • in 1974 the Department of Criminal Law, Procedure and Criminalistics divided into two departments: the Department of the Criminal and  Correctional Labour Law and the Department of Criminalistics;
  • in 1987 the Department of the Criminal Law and Criminalistics was founded;
  • in 1994 the Department of the Criminal Law and Criminalistics divided into two independent ones: the Department of the Criminal Law and the Departmrnt of Criminalistics and Legal Informatics;
  • in 2000 the Department of Criminalistics and Legal Informatics was renamed into the Department of Criminalistics;
  • Since 2000 the Department of Criminalistics annually issues the collection of scientific papers «Voronezh Criminalistic Readings».

The teachers of the Department regularly take place in international conferences, round-table meetings, etc. in foreign countries and give lectures in foreign higher education universities. From 2008 to 2011 the teachers of the Department published 26 scientific articles in foreign publications, 6 out of which are in foreign languages.

Scientists from the Russian Federation and foreign countries (Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, and other countries) take part in the collection of scientific papers «Voronezh Criminalistic Readings», issued by the subdivision.

The Department has:

  • the regular Theoretical Seminar (the chairperson: prof. О.Ya. Baev), where not only teachers, postgraduates and external postgraduates of the Department of Criminalistics of the VSU, but also ones from other departments of the criminalistics area (the criminal law,  the criminal procedure, the organization of the judicial power and the law-enforcement agencies), the teachers of other legal higher education institutes of Voronezh and practitioners of law-enforcement agencies;
  • the regular Academic Club (the chairpeople: prof. О.Ya. Baev, associate professor S.N. Bokov), where students of the Law faculty of VSU, Voronezh Institute of  Ministry of Internal Affairs and practitioners of law-enforcement agencies give talks, lectures and master classes.
